Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need both the Passenger and School Bus endorsements?+
In most states, school bus drivers are required to hold both the Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. First-time applicants for each after February 7, 2022 must complete FMCSA-registered ELDT theory training before the state knowledge test. This bundle covers both for $35 — saving $5 versus buying them separately.
What's included in the bundle?+
Both FMCSA-registered ELDT theory courses:
Passenger ELDT (under 2 hours) and
School Bus ELDT (30–45 minutes). Each completion is submitted to the FMCSA registry as a separate entry within 24 hours. Accepted in 49 states, 100% online and self-paced.
How long does the bundle take?+
Most drivers finish both in about 2.5 hours total — Passenger in under 2 hours and School Bus in 30–45 minutes. Both are self-paced; complete them in one sitting or separately.
What is the difference between standard filing and Instant Submission?+
Both include the same two courses. The bundle is $35 with standard filing within 24 hours. Adding Instant Submission ($15 add-on) files both completions within minutes of you confirming your details.
Is the bundle accepted in my state?+
Yes. DLA Academy is listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry and both courses are accepted in 49 states. We're sorry, we don't serve Washington. We'd be glad to help drivers in all of the other 49 states.
Do I also need Hazmat?+
Only if you'll haul hazardous materials. If you need all three, the
3-Endorsement Bundle adds Hazmat for $50 total — just $15 more than this bundle.
I don't have a CDL yet — what do I need?+
School buses are Class B vehicles, so you'll need
CDL B Theory ELDT as well as both endorsements.
School Bus Complete covers all three for $50 — the full path from no CDL to driving a route.
Does DLA Academy provide behind-the-wheel training?+
No — DLA Academy covers the ELDT theory portion only. Behind-the-wheel training must be completed with a local provider listed on the FMCSA registry for behind-the-wheel training, if required by your state or employer.
Is DLA Academy on the FMCSA registry?+
Yes — for all five theory courses: Hazmat, CDL A, CDL B, Passenger and School Bus. Verify us at
tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov, and check any provider the same way before you pay. If a provider is not listed, your state will not accept the completion.
